Bangladesh had an eventful outing in the T20 World Cup 2024, where they reached the Super 8 stage. Even they had a chance to qualify for the semifinals which they squandered against Afghanistan.
The Tigers lost all of their Super Eight matches but against India, they had to make a change.
Pacer Taskin Ahmed was left out of the team and Jaker Ali was included for the India clash. It looked like an injury-related or a tactical move from Bangladesh, but now reports have revealed that the reason behind Taskin's omission was a shocking off-field incident.
As per a report, a BCB official has revealed that Taskin, who is the current vice-captain of Bangladesh, missed out on the India match due to oversleeping. The 29-year-old pacer was reportedly sleeping and couldn't be on time for the team bus.
"It is true that he (Taskin) joined the team later after missing the team bus," the official told Cricbuzz.
As the match was from 10:30 am local time, the teams had to be on the ground by 9 am.
But Taskin, on the day of the India match, had a bit of extra sleep and couldn't wake up on time.
