T20 World Cup 2024: Nine players who announced their retirement from T20I cricket

T20 World Cup 2024 was unique for multiple reasons. The ICC event saw 20 teams participating for the first time together, USA hosted its first-ever ICC event, matches were played on drop-in pitches, and also bowlers dominated in the format which is largely known to favour bowlers.
  Apart from the aforementioned peculiarities, the T20 World Cup 2024 also witnessed several legends hanging their boots and retiring from T20I cricket.
After the final alone, as many as three India legends retired from T20 internationals. Ravindra Jadeja: The star all-rounder retired from the format a day after India's win to end their 13-year wait for an ICC World Cup. Jadeja played 74 T20Is to score 515 runs and pick 54 wickets. David Warner: The Australian opener had announced that he would retire after the T20 World Cup 2024. He did not get a fairytale finish to his career as Australia failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
Warner played 110 T20Is to score 3277 runs - seventh highest at the time of his retirement. Trent Boult: The star left-arm pacer played his last T20I match for New Zealand against PNG in the Super 8 round of T20 World Cup 2024. Boult finished his T20I career with 83 wickets in 61 T20I matches. He picked nine wickets in four matches for T20 World Cup 2024 - most by anyone from his team. Mahmudullah: Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mahmudullah announced his retirement from international cricket after the end of T20 World Cup 2024. The 38-year-old all-rounder scored 95 runs in seven matches for Bangladesh in the tournament.
Overall, he scored 2394 runs in 138 T20Is. He also picked 40 wickets with his off-spin bowling. David Wiese: The Namibia legend retired from international cricket after their side lost to England in their last group stage match. Wiese featured in 54 T20Is to score 624 runs and pick 59 wickets. Sybrand Engelbrecht: Netherlands veteran Sybrand Engelbrecht also retired his announcement from international cricket after his side's last league match against Sri Lanka. The 35-year-old South Africa-born cricketer played 12 T20 Internationals and scored 280 runs at an average of 31.11 and a strike rate of 132.7. Brian Masaba: The Uganda also announced a surprise retirement from T20I cricket after his team's campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024.
The 32-year-old featured in 61 T20Is, scoring 437 runs and picking 23 wickets.
