Shubhman Gill: Team India has reached Zimbabwe for the five-match T20I series on the Zimbabwe tour. Shubman Gill, captain of Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, has been made the captain of Team India for this series.
Team India's playing eleven has been announced for the first match of the T20I series. Captain Shubman Gill has not given place to Rinku Singh, wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube from this team.
It is difficult for Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh and Shivam Dubey to find a place in the playing eleven of Team India in the first match against Zimbabwe because these three players were part of the T20 World Cup team and with the end of the World Cup, these players of Team India have not been able to leave for Zimbabwe yet due to the storm in the West Indies.
Captain Gill may have to play the first match against Zimbabwe without these players. Rituraj Gaikwad and Abhishek Sharma can open the innings for Team India and Shubman Gill can play at number three. Riyan Parag can get a chance at number four, while Dhruv Jurel can get a place as wicketkeeper.
The Indian cricket team will play its first T20I match of the five-match series against Zimbabwe on July 7.
In such a situation, captain Shubman Gill will have to select the playing eleven from the players available for Team India. In the first match, Shubman Gill and Chennai Super Kings captain Rituraj Gaikwad can open the innings for Team India. Former Team India batsman VVS Laxman is handling the responsibility of Team India's head coach on this tour.
After Rohit Sharma's retirement from T20 International and the end of the tenure of Rahul Dravid, who played the role of head of Team India till the T20 World Cup, the BCCI may hand over the responsibility of the post of head coach of Team India to former Team India opener and Kolkata Knight Riders mentor in the Indian Premier League, Gautam Gambhir after the Zimbabwe tour.
At the same time, BCCI can appoint Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya as the new captain of T20I team in IPL. Hardik has previously captained Team India in T20 Internationals.
Probable playing XI for the first match: Abhishek Sharma, Rituraj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande, Avesh Khan.
