Ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there has been a major development for Punjab Kings ahead of the upcoming season.
The franchise recently came forward to announce that they have released former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer from their backroom staff as the batting consultant. Jaffer joined the side in 2023 as the batting coach under head coach Trevor Bayliss. However, PBKS now has Sanjay Bangar as the franchise's cricket director, and it is worth noting that Bangar has previously been India's batting coach, and he will fulfill the same role with PBKS, leaving no need for Jaffer. Before the start of the IPL 2023, Punjab Kings made several changes to their staff, Bayliss was appointed as the head coach, replacing Anil Kumble. Furthermore, the franchise roped in Charl Langeveldt and Brad Haddin in bowling and assistant coach roles, respectively.
