Indian women's cricket team all-rounder Sneh Rana created history with her brilliant bowling in the only Test match played against South Africa at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Sneh took 8 wickets in the first innings and 2 wickets in the second innings, for which she was selected as the Player of the Match.
Sneh has become the first Indian spinner and the second bowler overall to take 10 wickets in a Test match. Earlier, Jhulan Goswami had achieved this feat of taking 10 wickets in a Test match against England in 2006.
Apart from this, she is the third player after Neetu David and Ashley Gardner to take eight wickets in an innings in women's Test.
It is worth noting that in this match, the Indian team defeated South Africa by 10 wickets.
India had got a target of 37 runs to win, which was achieved in just 9.2 overs on the basis of innings of Shefali Verma (24 not out) and Shubha Satish (13 not out).Batting first in this match, the Indian team declared the first innings at 603 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In which Shefali Verma (205) and Smriti Mandhana (149) played record innings. Apart from this, Richa Ghosh (86), Harmanpreet Kaur (69) and Jemima Rodrigues (55) scored half centuries.
In response to which South Africa were all out for 266 runs in the first innings. After getting the follow-on, the South African team made a brilliant comeback and scored 373 runs in the second innings.
