Indian team's great batsman Virat Kohli is today known as a run machine.

Virat has scored a lot of runs in all matches from international cricket to franchise cricket, but do you know that when Virat was going through a bad phase in his career, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the only player who stood behind him. Even when there was talk of dropping Virat from the team, Dhoni himself refused to play in defense of Virat.

Former Pakistani cricketer Umar Akmal has shared an incident from the year 2013, during which captain Dhoni got irritated when Virat was dropped from the team and even fought for him. Umar Akmal has revealed this while talking on a Pakistani channel.

He said, 'I was having dinner with Dhoni.

In 2013, we toured India and returned victorious. Virat was going through a difficult time then. Meanwhile, the manager of Team India came to Dhoni's room. He told Dhoni not to make Kohli play the last ODI.'

Umar Akmal further said, 'Dhoni bhai told the manager that it's okay.

I have also not gone home for 6 months, Raina will take over the captaincy. You book two tickets and Virat and I will go back home.' Umar Akmal was shocked to hear these words from the mouth of Indian captain Dhoni, after which he questioned Mahi on this and asked why did you say this to the manager. Then Dhoni told the Pakistani player that Virat is one of the best players of India and if he is unable to perform in some matches, then we cannot leave him.

These words of Dhoni for Virat were a show of trust in his young player which the world saw for many years even after 2013.

Virat also never disappointed Thala and became the greatest batsman of not only Team India but also the world and took over the captaincy of Team India. Today, Kohli has 13484 runs in ODI cricket, 4188 runs in T20 International and 8848 runs in Test cricket. Kohli has retired from T20 International, but there are still many more runs to come from his bat in ODI and Test cricket.
