Laxman is currently the President of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and he was seen coaching the team even in the absence of Rahul Dravid and now he is going to play the role of India's coach once again.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah himself has announced that Laxman will be the coach of India on the Zimbabwe tour, while the new coach will take over the responsibility from the series starting against Sri Lanka. Let us tell you that some people have been interviewed for the post of head coach and the announcement of who will be the next head coach of India will be made soon.

We have shortlisted the players and whatever decision they take after reaching Mumbai, we will go according to that. VVS Laxman is going on a tour of Zimbabwe and the new coach will join the Sri Lanka tour.”
