India created history by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They have won an ICC title after a long wait of 11 years. After winning the T20 World Cup, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have said goodbye to this format. After their retirement, BCCI President Roger Binny says that it is difficult to find a replacement for these two legends.

Binny said, “They have been fantastic. It is going to be very difficult to find their immediate replacement, it is going to be a big loss at the moment. They have contributed a lot. Hopefully we will get some young cricketers through the IPL. There is a lot of talent in the IPL. A lot of cricketers are coming but it will take some time to bridge the gap. They have contributed a lot. It will not be easy but we can try to do what they have done with some young cricketers. We will probably see in the next two-three years that the team will come back to itself without them.”

Rohit played 159 matches in T20 International and scored 4231 runs at a strike rate of 140.89. During this, 5 centuries and 32 half-centuries have been seen from his bat. Talking about Virat's T20 International career, he has scored 4188 runs in 125 matches at a strike rate of 137.04. He has one century and 38 half-centuries to his name in this format.

In the final match, India won the toss and batted first and scored 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored 76 (59) and Axar Patel scored 47 (31) runs for the team. Chasing the target, South Africa could score only 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya took the maximum 3 wickets for India. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh took 2-2 wickets each. Axar Patel took one wicket.
