Virat Kohli did wonders in the final of T20 World Cup 2024. No big innings came out of his bat in the entire tournament, but when there was pressure of the final, Virat Kohli came out shining. Virat Kohli scored 76 runs in 59 balls. It was on the basis of his excellent batting that Team India reached a score of 176 runs. But when South Africa's innings started, Team India's fielding disappointed a lot. Especially Rishabh Pant made a mistake in the powerplay.
Rishabh Pant gave a free leg bye on Arshdeep Singh's ball in the very first over.
The ball hit Reeza Hendricks' thigh pad and Pant could have stopped it but it did not happen. Pant did the same in the second over as well. Once again South Africa got a run of leg bye. In the third over, Pant wasted a review on Arshdeep Singh's ball. Pant appealed for a catch behind the wicket against De Kock and the umpire gave not out but Rohit took the review on Pant's request. After this, in the 9th over, Pant once again missed the chance to run out De Kock. Apart from this, Suryakumar Yadav also made a misfield in the outfield due to which South Africa got an extra run. It is clear that Team India's fielding was quite average in the first 10 overs.Earlier, Virat Kohli batted brilliantly in difficult conditions. India lost the wickets of Rohit, Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav early in the powerplay but after this Virat Kohli settled at the crease. He along with Axar Patel shared a 72-run partnership in 54 balls in the fourth over. After this, Virat Kohli added 57 runs in 33 balls with Shivam Dubey. Virat Kohli may have scored a half-century in 48 balls but this player managed to score 76 runs in the end.
