The champion of any tournament is decided by the important moments. Who capitalizes on those moments, who misses them, decides who will lift the trophy in the end. Team India also faced some similar moments in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024, where it caused its own loss by making similar mistakes. Team India, who came out to bat first in the final in Barbados against South Africa, suffered two such losses in the same over, which destroyed its hopes of a great start. These two losses came in the form of the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, both returned to the pavilion in the second over and the reason was the same kind of trap.

After winning the toss at Kensington Oval ground in Bridgetown, Team India came out to bat first and in the very first over Virat Kohli gave the team a great start by hitting 3 fours. Then in the next over captain Rohit Sharma took the responsibility and hit 2 consecutive fours on left arm spinner Keshav Maharaj. After Rohit's brilliant batting in the last 2 matches, such a start in this match again raised hopes of a big innings but this hope ended here.

Rohit and Pant caught in the same trap

Now it was the turn of Keshav Maharaj, who laid such a trap that the captain of Team India got caught in it and Team India suffered double loss.

Maharaj pulled back his length a bit on the fourth ball and also reduced the speed of the ball a bit. Rohit went to play a sweep shot on this but could not get the right timing and Heinrich Klaasen took a brilliant catch at square leg. After this, Rishabh Pant came to the crease, who could have proved effective against left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj.

Maharaj also knew this but still he bowled a tempting ball in the first ball. Pant could not capitalize on it.

Maharaj then bowled another long ball but once again reduced the speed and this time Pant got tempted and tried to play a sweep shot but before the ball reached him, his bat had already turned and he gave an easy catch to the wicketkeeper.

Then came a strong blow

In this way, Team India lost the wickets of its two explosive batsmen within just 2 overs, while the score was only 23 runs. If this was not enough, Team India got another big shock in a short while when Suryakumar Yadav was caught by Kagiso Rabada in the fifth over. This time too, Heinrich Klaasen took a brilliant catch and Team India's score became 3 wickets for just 34 runs in 4.3 overs.
