Rohit Sharma: The Indian team will play its second World Cup final against South Africa on Saturday, June 29 in the final stage of the T20 World Cup after eight months. India lost to Australia in the final of the 2023 Cricket World Cup on November 19. But at a crucial moment in the final, India lost the match and the trophy.
The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma now has a chance to end its long wait of 11 years of ICC title drought and forget the defeat of the last World Cup. Before this important match, a statement of former captain Sourav Ganguly is going viral on social media, which he has given for Rohit.
Let us tell you what is the statement?People are finding it difficult to believe what former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said while talking to PTI.
Talking before the final match, he said about Rohit Sharma that,“If India loses the final today, Rohit will jump into the sea of Barbados. This is the second time he has reached the World Cup final while remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament. It is an example of his great leadership and excellent performance as a captain, when I was the BCCI President and Virat Kohli did not want to become the captain, Rohit Sharma was given the captaincy.”
Not only this, while talking further, Ganguly also said that,
“Even then I was not surprised because I had faith in Rohit. On the contrary, Rohit himself was not ready to become the captain, it took a lot of time to prepare him, but now when we see that the Indian team is progressing under his leadership, it seems that the efforts have been successful.”
Wishing Team India and Rohit Sharma all the best for the final, Sourav Ganguly said,
“I don’t think Rohit Sharma is the kind of captain who will let go of two World Cup finals in a span of seven (six) months. But if India loses, I think Rohit will jump into the sea in Barbados. This time he has led the team very well. He himself has batted well. I hope India plays well from all three sides tomorrow. Best of luck to him for the win, he needs luck as well as playing such matches.”
