Even though India has advanced to the T20 World Cup 2024 finals, former skipper Virat Kohli is still struggling in the competition. Only 75 runs, or an average of 10.71, have been scored by the Indian hitter in seven innings so far.

Chris Gayle, the former captain of the West Indies and opener, is backing Kohli despite his lackluster performance and low strike rate. Gayle told the media during a press conference that a player of Virat Kohli’s caliber cannot be “written off.”

Superstars and elite athletes like Virat experience these sensations. We are aware of his dominance from prior World Cups.

Anyone can get a bat patch. But it has a positive aspect. He is in the championship game, and sometimes the squad may need to turn to key players to win the real game. Thus, it is impossible to write out a player like Virat Kohli. Gayle, who played with Kohli for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, said, “We just have to wait and see what he delivers tomorrow. We know how special he is.”

After amassing over 700 runs for RCB and even taking home the Orange Cap, Kohli had an outstanding IPL 2024 season. He has, meanwhile, found it difficult to do the same in the current T20 World Cup.

Captain Rohit Sharma has also supported Kohli, speculating that the icon may be reserving his best for the Barbados final.

“He is an excellent paper. That may happen to any athlete. We are aware of this class and its significance in these major games. Perfect form is always a plus, particularly if you’ve played cricket for fifteen years. He seems well-groomed, and his intention is clear. During the post-match interview, Rohit said, “I think he’s saving for the championship.”

South Africa and India will play in the T20 World Cup 2024 final on Saturday at the Kensington Oval.

After losing seven times in the semi-finals, South Africa is about to play in their first-ever final in the tournament’s history.
