The T20 World Cup final between South Africa and India is scheduled to take place here on Saturday. The local meteorological authority has said that there is a 49% possibility of rain interfering with the cricket match, which is unfortunate news for cricket lovers.
What happens then if it rains no more?
The game is anticipated to be significantly shortened by rain, although it is anticipated to start around 10:30 AM local time.
The extra time is scheduled to run concurrently with the event semi-final, in accordance with ICC regulations. This means that even after a 4-hour and 10-minute delay from the start time, the whole game may still go place.
Is there a reserve day for the final?
The game will now take place on Sunday, June 30 if the rain prevents any play at all.
In the tournament’s history, South Africa and India have faced off six times in the T20 World Cup, with India winning each occasion.
In its third ICC final in as many months, Team India is attempting to break an 11-year drought without a major championship. They are aiming to win the Men’s T20 World Cup, which they last won in 2007 when current captain Rohit Sharma was a player under MS Dhoni.
Conversely, South Africa is making their first appearance in the men’s ICC World Cup final, having lost their previous seven attempts.
Both India and South Africa qualified for the championship match as undefeated teams, but they did so in very different ways. The Rohit Sharma-led team prevailed in their matches in the Caribbean thus far, most recently defeating the reigning champions England by 68 runs.
