The last day of the action is almost here. And the two unbeaten teams are the ones in opposition to one another; with one victory, they might win the T20 World Cup trophy and enjoy everlasting glory.
After seven heartbreaking losses in the elimination stages, South Africa is playing in its first-ever World Cup final for men’s cricket. However, the team captained by Aiden Markram has been resilient in the face of adversity, emerging victorious each and every time by seizing crucial opportunities.
Paul Adams, a former spinner for South Africa who played 45 Tests and 25 ODIs, spoke exclusively with IANS about the Proteas heading into the championship match, how they match up against a strong Indian squad, and Aiden Markram taking the lead.
“I believe that this is a historic moment for South Africa. As a cricket player, as well as a cricket fan and a South African, there has always been a myth that South Africa won’t make it to the championship game, said Adams.
However, it’s a World Cup final, and this is South Africa’s men’s team’s first trip there, carrying the flag for the country. They may undoubtedly carry a great deal of confidence from their past experiences competing in the finals of other competitions into this final.
Aiden Markram, like Rohit Sharma, has been instrumental in steering his Proteas to an unbeaten season so far. Markram deserves a great deal of credit for shaping South Africa’s bowling arsenal into one of the most formidable in the competition with his astute rotation of bowlers.
He’s been managing the pressure rather well, from what I can see. Adams said, “More importantly, his decision-making in this situation has been clinical.
He also understands how to control seamers when they have to attack, such as when he bowls them through, as seen in the semi-final matchup with Afghanistan, when they received a lot of support.
He has shown himself to be an effective leader; from the outside, you can see this in his composure, his ability to command the soldiers, and his ability to bring out the best in many of these guys.
