Before India and South Africa play their last T20 World Cup 2024 match at the Kensington Oval, veteran cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that star player Virat Kohli has tremendous potential to become a hero.

The 35-year-old had an excellent run in the just-finished Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, but he struggled in the current T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli participated in every game for the Men in Blue and finished with 75 runs at an average of 10.71. With 741 runs, Virat Kohli was the IPL 2024’s top run scorer nonetheless.

In a video posted to his official X account, Kaif made the point that even though MS Dhoni wasn’t playing well during the 2011 ODI World Cup, he still contributed 91 runs in the championship game.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni competed in the 2011 ODI World Cup out of form. He produced a flawless 91-run knock in the championship. His long-on six off Kulasekara is ingrained in everyone’s memory. Because of this, I believe Virat Kohli has a fantastic opportunity to become a hero,” Kaif said.

The former cricket player also discussed Kohli’s century at the Eden Gardens during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

He has to get over the fact that his form is bad.

When India last faced South Africa at Eden Gardens for the ODI World Cup, he had struck a century. He wasn’t slogging that day; instead, he was playing the ball on merit and doing the right cricket strokes. He was terrific and performed really well that day,” he said.

Virat Kohli must keep in mind that even though Dhoni didn’t have a terrific World Cup in 2011, he improved in the championship game. A little suggestion: He can dominate any bowling assault and play the ball on merit; he is just too talented to slog. tweet.com/OumwDIO7nPJune 28, 2024, Muhammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif)

The Men in Blue will play South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 championship game on Saturday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The tournament results for both teams have been very different. The team captained by Rohit Sharma has crushed every team they have played in the competition, including formidable opponents like Australia, Pakistan, and England.

On many instances, the Proteas have narrowly avoided elimination while making it to the final. In the group stage, Bangladesh and Nepal gave them a serious competition.

They almost completed their elimination in their last Super 8 match against the West Indies, who were the co-hosts, when they chased the amended 123.
