India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, praised his squad for reaching three consecutive ICC event finals. He expressed optimism that they would succeed this time around despite losing their previous two attempts.

The combination of Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma will compete in their third ICC competition final in less than a year. Both times, Australia was there to cause heartache throughout the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup.

But this time, India made sure Australia wouldn’t be there to ruin the celebration as they searched for the ideal conclusion.

In an effort to break their drought without winning the ICC trophy, Dravid praised his players for their consistency over the previous 12 months.

“Yes, without a doubt. We are playing terrific cricket, and we are consistent, which is fantastic, in my opinion. Being the best in all three forms and competing in the finals is a positive thing, and it has been for a long time, particularly in the last year, as you said. In the pre-match news conference, Dravid said, “It gives a lot of credit to the boys, a lot of boys who are Test cricketers, who are our one-day players and also our T20 players.”

“So, it is very encouraging that Indian cricket has shown a great deal of consistency. And in response to your question later, he said, “We will win if we play well and get the luck of the draw.”

Since a team may never have a flawless game, Dravid stressed the need to be composed and unhurried throughout the championship game.

“I believe you’re always trying to become better. Furthermore, I don’t believe you can ever have a flawless game. We haven’t played a flawless game in any of our games, and I doubt any team has either.

Thus, he responded, “Look, I mean, I think it’s not that one day; you’re going to start changing things too much all of a sudden.”

“So, for us really, I think now getting into this final, it’s just about staying relaxed, about trusting the good cricket that we’ve played, about recognizing that we found ourselves in pressure situations right through this tournament, but we’ve always found players and people to come up and deliver the goods,” he said.

India has assembled a team that is ideal for the circumstances of each match and has the ideal combination of qualities.

Dravid expressed gratitude for the team’s balance and expressed optimism that they will play well as a unit.

“Also just recognizing that we’ve got a really good balance in the team, we’ve got the players, and just for us to, like I answered earlier, maybe just come there really well prepared, do all the things that we can do, control all the controllables, do everything that we need to do, and then just go out and play hopefully a great game of cricket,” Dravid said.

At the Kensington Oval on Saturday, India will meet South Africa in the final.

A reserve day is scheduled in the event that weather prevents the game from happening.
