In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli has only amassed 75 runs from six matches so far, but former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes the great player may do well against South Africa in the championship match.
In support of Kohli, who finished the IPL with the most runs scored (741), Kaif wrote on social media, saying, “Virat Kohli needs to remember that even Dhoni didn’t have a great World Cup in 2011 but he found form in the final.” A little suggestion: He can dominate any bowling assault and play the ball on merit; he is just too talented to slog.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s performance in the 2011 ODI World Cup was lacking.
He produced a flawless 91-run knock in the championship. His on-off Kulasekara, which lasted six overs, is never forgotten. I believe Virat Kohli has a fantastic opportunity to become a hero for this reason. He has to ignore his bad form. When India last faced South Africa at Eden Gardens for the ODI World Cup, he had struck a century. In the video, Kaif said, “He wasn’t slogging that day; instead, he was playing the ball on merit with proper cricket shots. He was brilliant and played very well that day.”He’s a terrific player; therefore, in my opinion, he should play the ball on merit and make the right cricket strokes at the end rather than slogging it out and showing off his wickets. Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav are examples of players who should play quickly, whereas Virat Kohli should play for the whole 20 overs and use the ball well. Like Dhoni, who was out of form during the 2011 ODI World Cup but played a game-winning, undefeated innings at the crucial moment, he is a big-match player and has the potential to become a hero. Virat Kohli can do the same in this match, the man said.
