It was a good start from Smashers Malda with the bat. Ranjot Singh Khaira and Jayojit Basu added 29 runs for the opening wicket. Khaira scored 21 runs off 16 deliveries and as he departed by Irfan Aftab, Malda got stuck.
After a couple of calm overs, Jayojit Basu departed.
Their star batter Writtick Chatterjee also was victim of a misunderstanding and got run out for just 13 runs. With Writam Porel's dismissal soon after, Malda were tottering at 70 for 5 in the final. Saurabh Singh scored 20 runs but Murshidabad kept on getting wickets in regular intervals. Bhoirob De Sarkar and Ayan Bhattacharya provided a couple of late boundaries as Malda finished with 116 runs on board at the end of their full quota of overs.
Dilshad Khan and Jeet Thakur got two wickets each for Malda as six of their seven bowlers ended up with an economy rate of six runs or less per over.
Murshidabad were 7 for no loss after the first over when rain came.
The downpour continued for more than two hours and with no signs of the rain stopping, the match was called off and two teams were announced as joint winners.
