India Women vs South Africa Women: Indian women's cricket team's opening batsmen Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana created history with their brilliant batting in the first innings on the first day of the only Test match being played against South Africa at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Shafali and Mandhana together shared a 292-run partnership in 52 overs for the first wicket.

This is the first time in the 90-year history of women's test cricket that there has been a partnership of 250 or more runs for the first innings.

Apart from this, this is the biggest partnership for any wicket in women's test. Earlier, Pakistan's Kiran Baloch and Sajida Shah had made a partnership of 242 runs for the first wicket in the match against West Indies in Karachi in 2004.

Delmi Tucker broke this partnership by dismissing Mandhana.

Mandhana scored the second century of her Test career, scoring 149 runs in 161 balls with the help of 27 fours and 1 six.

Whereas Shafali has scored her first international century.
