second Indian to do so

India won the toss and chose to bat first. In such a situation, Shefali Verma came to the crease to bat with her opening partner Smriti Mandhana. She played a little cautiously in the initial overs, but after understanding the pitch, she did not stop. She scored runs continuously and scored a century in just 113 balls. Two wickets fell on the other side, yet she kept moving forward rapidly and scored a double century in just 200 balls. In terms of scoring a double century, she has become the 10th woman cricketer in the world and only the second woman cricketer in India.

Broke this record together with Mandhana

Earlier, Shefali Verma along with Smriti Mandhana had made a record opening partnership of 292 runs. With this, both of them broke the 20-year-old record of Pakistan. Earlier this record was in the name of Pakistan's Sajida Shah and Kiran Baloch. In the year 2004, both of them had added 241 runs for the first wicket against West Indies. Not only this, Shefali and Mandhana have become the second pair in the world to have the highest partnership for any wicket.

After Smriti Mandhana's brilliant innings of 149 runs, Shefali's quick double century has put the Indian team in a very strong position. At the time of writing the news, the team has scored 399 runs at the loss of only 2 wickets in the third session. Along with Shefali, Jemima Rodriguez is also present at the crease after scoring 31 runs.
