IND vs ENG Semi Final: Team India has made a grand entry in the final of T20 World Cup 2024. In the semi-final (IND vs ENG) played on the night of 27 June, India has also avenged the defeat in 2022. Where the team led by Rohit Sharma had to face defeat by 10 wickets. After 595 days, that pain has been removed. Batting first, India scored 171 runs, which included Rohit's fifty. Then Akshar and Kuldeep stopped the British for just 103 runs.

IND vs ENG: 2 wickets in powerplay

  • After losing the toss, Team India came to bat first and their start was not as per their expectations.
  • Virat Kohli, who was looking for his rhythm in this tournament, fell prey to Reece Topley after scoring 9 runs in 9 balls.
While he had hit a six just 1 ball before.
  • Then Rishabh Pant (4) added 21 runs with Rohit Sharma for the second wicket. In the 6th over, he gave an easy catch to Bairstow off Sam Curran.

Rohit-Surya showed their strength

  • The best partnership for India was between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.
  • The two shared a 73-run partnership for the third wicket, that too at a time when the conditions were getting difficult for batting.
In 8 overs, India had scored 65 runs at the loss of 2 wickets.
  • Then it rained and the game was stopped, when the match resumed, Rohit and Surya did not change their attitude. Surya hit a four in the 9th over and Rohit hit the first boundary after rain in the 11th over.
  • The captain scored 57 runs in 39 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.

IND vs ENG: India scored 171 runs

  • Rohit's wicket came at a combined score of 113. Surya played a brilliant innings of 47 runs, although he was out 2 overs earlier than needed.
  • Vice-captain Hardik Pandya (23) smashed two sixes in two balls off Chris Jordan in the 17th over.
  • However, he had to go on the next ball.
In the end, Ravindra Jadeja (17) and Axar Patel made a crucial partnership of 24 runs. Which took India to the score of 171.

Englishmen trapped in the spin of Akshar-Kuldeep

  • Axar Patel turned the contest in India's favour with his opening spell itself, after Jos Buttler smashed three boundaries in Arshdeep Singh's third over to quickly put England ahead.
  • But the left-arm spinner dismissed Buttler, who had scored 23 off 15 balls, on the first ball of the fourth over.
  • After this, it seemed as if there was a flurry of wickets.
England lost 4 batsmen in the next 23 runs.
  • Phil Salt (5), Jonny Bairstow (0), Moeen Ali (8), and Sam Curran (2) departed cheaply.
  • Half the English team was in the pavilion at a score of just 49.
  • Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone shared a 19-run partnership. Then Kuldeep Yadav got them out, from here the result became a mere formality.
  • England were all out for just 103 runs without playing their 20 overs and India won by 3 wickets.

IND vs ENG: This move of Rohit Sharma worked

  • Seeing the fast bowlers being thrashed, Rohit Sharma put Akshar Patel on attack in the fourth over itself. This proved to be his biggest gamble, as Patel opened the window by dismissing Jos Buttler.
  • Then he took 3 wickets for just 14 runs in 3 overs, then Kuldeep Yadav also put the final nail in the coffin by taking 3 wickets.
