Rain is a worry for India vs. England in the T20 World Cup semifinal, despite the match looking very promising.

Georgetown, Guyana, is now 24 degrees Celsius and partially overcast, according to World Weather. It is anticipated that Guyana will get light to spotty rain beginning at 9 a.m. local time, ahead of the 10.30 a.m. start. Up until 4 pm, there is a prediction for light rain every hour.

After that, the weather will be partly overcast for the rest of the day.

The Guyana semifinal has been assigned to India because of the schedule of the match; 8.30 pm, Indian Standard Time, is far more suitable for television than 10.30 am local time. According to ESPNCricinfo, the final, which will take place in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29, will start at 10 a.m. local time and end at 7.30 p.m. in India.

The second semifinal will not have a reserve day. That being said, the contest will be extended by 250 minutes. Since there isn’t a reserve day in the tournament schedule, the additional time has been included.

Had the second semifinal been granted a reserve day, the time between that match and the championship would have been reduced to a single day for rest and preparation.

If it rains heavily, the second semifinal might go very close since the rules state that a side can only be declared the winner if both bat for at least 10 overs. Teams batting second in T20 matches are often expected to bat for a minimum of five overs in order to secure a result. For most of the ICC T20 World Cup matches, this system was in use. However, in the knockout stages, the Duckworth-Lewis system will require teams batting second to play at least 10 overs in order to determine the outcome.

This also applied to the T20 World Cup in Australia’s knockout stages.

A representative for the ICC claims that overs will only be lowered starting at 2.40 pm, about 250 minutes after the planned start time of 10.30 am. The representative also said that the 10-over match must begin at 4:14 p.m. local time, according ESPNCricinfo.

Men in Blue will go to the finals if the game is abandoned due to inclement weather as they won the Super Eights group, while England placed second in Group 2.
