The captain of South Africa, Aiden Markram, was happy to see his team overcome a difficult course in the semifinal to advance to their first-ever T20 World Cup final, even if he was certain that he did not want to play another game on this field.
The Brian Lara Academy stadium’s deck allowed for a lot of movement off the seam, which the South African quicks took full advantage of to bowl out Afghanistan for a pitiful 56 runs.
“We’ll probably be glad that we’re not playing here again when we look back on this wicket. When South Africa trounced Afghanistan by nine wickets in the post-match news conference, Markram said, “You want entertainment in T20 cricket as a whole.”
Markram was thrilled to see South Africa triumph on a difficult course.
“Throughout the campaign, we’ve faced some very difficult wickets. It can’t be a batter’s game all the time, so it might be difficult to determine when a wicket is bad.
Having stated that, let’s continue to focus on the good things. Wickets are hard to hit. Thus, the most crucial thing is probably to figure out how to win.
South Africa will now go to Barbados to play either England or India in the championship match.
We’ve been jumping from place to location where circumstances are really different for the majority of our careers. Therefore, it’s only a matter of adjusting and participating in the pitch and game that are in front of you.
“As batsmen, we’ll strive to reach a score that is manageable and find ways to consistently take wickets with the ball.” The same wicket must be used by both sides to play,” he said.
The 29-year-old praised the South African bowlers for knocking Afghanistan out for a record-low 56 runs, which turned the semifinal into a lopsided match.
“The whole competition, including the bowlers, has been really strong. Most likely conserving the batters for special moments. Thus, you must be really appreciative of them,” he said.
Markram was also kind enough to recognize Afghanistan’s outstanding performance in this competition.
It’s very amazing to see. Right now, they have some of the greatest players in the world. They’re really headed in the right direction. It is definitely huge for them to make it to the semifinals. They have, in my opinion, greatly influenced many individuals back home.
“I’ve seen certain images that motivate us to work toward improving the lives of those back home. “I’m confident that they will continue to produce knockout cricket,” he said.
