South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final to qualify for the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Chasing 57 runs, the Proteas lost just 1 wicket and completed the task in 8.5 overs. South Africa will play in their first final in the history of the World Cup (ODI and T20I).

Reeza Hendricks (29 not out) and Aiden Markram (23 not out) played good innings. Earlier, Afghanistan managed 56 in 11.5 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai (10) was the only Afghan batter to reach the double digit score.

Marco Jansen amd Tabraiz Shamsi took three wickets each.

Meanwhile, the pitch was declared unfit by former India players Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sanjay Manjrekar.
