India’s star loses top rank ahead of semi-final against England

India qualified for the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after their unbeaten run in the Super 8 stage.

The Men in Blue will compete against England on June 27 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Rohit Sharma’s team is looking confident for the mega clash.

Ahead of the game, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the updated T20I rankings. Suryakumar Yadav has lost his number one spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Batters Rankings, a position he has held since December 2023. Australia opener Travis Head is the new top ranked batter after his good performance in the T20 World Cup.

In seven innings, he scored 255 runs at an average of 42.50 and a strike-rate of 158.38.

The southpaw accumulated 76 runs off 43 balls against India in their last Super 8 fixture. However, Australia lost the match by 24 runs.

Suryakumar has managed 149 runs in six innings at an average of 29.80 and a strike-rate of 139.25. In the all-rounders rankings, Hardik Pandya has climbed to the third spot thanks to his form.

Pandya has taken 8 wickets and scored 116 runs. Sri Lanka’s T20I captain Wanindu Hasaranga has reclaimed the top spot.
