Hamza Tahir on Scotland Cricket: The Scotland Cricket Board is once again in the news.

A player has made serious allegations against the board. In fact, Scotland's spinner Hamza Tahir has announced his retirement, accusing the board of racism.
Hamza has also threatened the board with legal action. Announcing his retirement, Tahir has accused Scotland Cricket of racism against South Asian players. He alleged that South Asian players have to perform twice as well as everyone else to make a place in the Scotland Cricket Team.

Hamza made serious allegations against Scotland Cricket

According to ESPNcricinfo, Hamza Tahir accused the board and said, 'This is a small part of the obstacles faced by players on the basis of color.

In big tournaments like the T20 World Cup, I always felt that I was stopped and not allowed to show the world what I can do and how I can make a name for myself on the big stage.

Actually, Scotland Cricket did not include Hamza Tahir in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. The board also removed him from the central contract. Tahir was very angry with these decisions of Scotland Cricket.

The 28-year-old spin bowler said, 'I gave a lot to the game and to Scotland cricket.

However, when I look back, it seems like a waste of time. I worked hard and tried a lot but did not get proper reward. There is a very toxic environment here and I do not want to be a part of it.'

Regarding his central contract, Tahir said, 'It was on March 25, 5 days before the expiry of my contract, someone from Cricket Scotland called me and told me that my contract would not be renewed.'

This is not the first time a player has accused Scotland Cricket of racism. Before Hamza Tahir, former Scotland players Majid Haq and Qasim Sheikh had also made similar complaints 2 years ago.

After their complaints, an independent review was conducted which found that the leadership and administration of Scotland Cricket was racist. The entire board resigned a day before the report of this investigation was published.
