Four teams that performed well in the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup have reached the semi-finals. Now both the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup will be played on 27 June. South Africa and Afghanistan will clash in the first semi-final, while India and England will clash in the second semi-final.
However, fans are surprised before these two knockout matches. The reason for the surprise is that there are different rules for both the semi-finals. Usually, there are same rules for every team in a tournament, but ICC has kept different rules for both the first and second semi-finals. Meaning, there will be different rules in the semi-finals of Afghanistan and South Africa, while there will be different rules for the semi-finals of India-England.ICC has kept a reserve day for the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup. This means that if the overs of the match are reduced due to rain and even then the game is not completed, then the match will be played on the reserve day.
On the reserve day, the game will start from where it stopped. However, before the reserve day, 60 extra minutes have been given at the end of the game on the match day and this extra time on the reserve day is 190 minutes. If the game is not completed due to rain even on the reserve day, then South Africa's team will reach the final because it had topped the Super 8 round.Unlike the first semi-final, there is no reserve day in the second semi-final.
This means that if the match between India and England is washed out in the second semi-final, then there is no reserve day for the next day. However, 250 minutes of extra time has been given to complete the match. If the match is not played, then Team India will reach the final because it topped its group in the Super 8. In such a situation, this will be unfair to the England team.Usually 5 overs of play is necessary in T20. But at least 10 overs of play is necessary in semi-finals and finals. Unless both the teams play 10 overs, the result of the match will not be out.
By the way, if there was no possibility of rain in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, then there would not have been much tension, but a warning of heavy rain has been issued in the second semi-final.
