Delhi: In the Super-8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 played in St. Vincent on Tuesday, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs with the help of Duckworth Lewis rule and entered the semi-finals. With their victory, the Australian team has been eliminated from the current tournament.

In this match, Afghanistan won the toss and batted first and scored 115 runs in 20 overs. Openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran started the innings, but they failed to give the team a great start. Gurbaz scored 43 runs in 55 balls, while Zadran contributed 18 runs. Azmatullah Zazai, who came to bat at number three, scored 10 runs. In the end, captain Rashid Khan played a quick innings of 19 runs in 10 balls. Bangladesh's star spinner Rishad Hussain performed brilliantly and took 3 wickets.
Bangladesh, chasing the target of 115 runs, lost their early wickets quickly. Opener Tanzin Hasan was out in 3 balls without opening his account. Captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan also returned to the pavilion early. Shanto scored 5 runs in 5 balls, while Shakib was out on the very first ball. Liton Das held one end and batted well, but despite staying till the end, he could not make the team win. He remained unbeaten on 54* in 49 balls.
