Afghanistan Players Forced To Cook Own Food At T20 World Cup Due To Unavailability Of Halal Meat
Afghanistan are having a tournament to remember in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. On the field, they have produced some memorable performances securing a place in the Super Eights for the first time in the tournament.
Even in this round, they were not bogged down when they faced Australia but instead handed them a defeat to take a giant step towards a place in the semifinal.
Even though they have been phenomenal with their performance on the field, a media report has now claimed that they are having to struggle with their arrangements off the field. As per information provided by news agency PTI, Afghanistan players have been forced to cook their own meal. This is because there is unavailability of Halal meat in the Caribbean islands.
Halal Meat Not Available In Afghanistan Team Hotel
An Afghanistan player talked to PTI for an interaction where in he shared details, also explaining how the arrangement was perfect in the ODI World Cup 2023 last year in India which is not the case this time around.
"Halal meat is not available in our hotel. Sometimes we cook on our own, or sometimes we go out. In the last World Cup In India, everything was perfect. Halal beef is an issue here.
"We had it in St. Lucia but it is not there at all venues. A friend arranged it for us, and we cooked on our own," a player told PTI.
"There is uncertainty over flights and training schedules. We are often informed about it at the last minute. We understand that the organisers are doing their best considering logistical challenges, which are bigger in the Caribbean than anywhere else," he added.
