India Beats Australia to Qualify for Semi Finals on T20 World Cup 2024

With impressive power-packed batting and bowling attacks, India secured a 24-run victory against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 clash to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Australia required a victory in the match against India to secure a berth in the Semifinals.

With their defeat, they have to rely on the outcome of the last Super 8 clash between Afghanistan and Bangladesh on June 25. Currently, India is the only team to qualify for the semi-finals from Group 1. The outcome of the 52nd match will determine the second qualifier from the group.

India got back on Australia after suffering defeat in the big stages of ICC tournaments in the ODI World Cup 2023 and WTC 2023 finals. India has qualified for the T20 World Cup semifinals for the fifth time in the history of the tournament.

Coming to the match, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened the innings while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack. In the fourth ball of the second over by Josh Hazlewood, Virat Kohli was dismissed for a five-ball duck.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma smashed the fastest fifty of the tournament in 19 deliveries. With his dismissal of Kohli Rishabh Pant came to bat and forged hands with Rohit Sharma to put up 60 runs in the powerplay.

Rishabh Pant scored 15 runs before being dismissed by Marcus Stoinis in the last ball of the eighth over. By the end of 10 overs, India scored 114 runs losing two wickets.

Rohit Sharma scored 92 runs in 40 deliveries including 7 fours and 8 sixes. In the 12th over of the match, Mitchell Starc dismissed Rohit Sharma on a yorker length delivery from round the wicket.

Mitchell Starc Strikes again picking the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav for 31 runs in the 15th over of the match. With Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya continuing to bat, India scored 181 runs by the end of the 18th over. Stoinis picked his second wicket by dismissing Shivam Dube for 28 runs. With an impressive six from Jadeja, India crossed the 200 mark and by the end of 20 overs, India scored 205 runs for 5 wickets.

With the target of 206, David Warner and Travis Head opened the innings, while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack. He picked the wicket of David Warner for 6 runs in the last ball of the over.

Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head joined hands to revive Australia in the match amassing a 81-run partnership. Kuldeep Yadav picked the wicket of Mitchell Marsh for 37 runs in the 9th over.

Travis Head scored fifty in the 10th over and by the end of the over, Australia scored 99 runs for two wickets. Kuldeep Yadav picked the wicket of Glenn Maxwell in his last over. With the dismissal of Stoinis by Axar Patel, Australia lost four wickets for 135 runs. In the 17th over, Bumrah picked the wicket of Travis Head of 76 runs.

With Arshdeep Sing picking the wickets of Tim David and Matthew Wade for 15 and 1 runs respectively, Australia lost seven wickets. By the end of 20 overs, Australia scored only 181 runs and lost the match by 24 runs.
