Rohit Sharma created havoc, Travis Head’s 76 runs went in vain, India crushed Australia and almost knocked them out of the World Cup
IND vs AUS: The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma has avenged its defeat in the World Cup 2023 final against Australia (IND vs AUS) after 218 days. By defeating the Kangaroos by 24 runs, India has almost knocked out the 2021 champions. Team India had given a huge target of 206 runs on the basis of captain Rohit's 92 runs.
In response to which Travis Head fought alone, initially he got the support of Mitchell Marsh. But then the sharp bowling of Kuldeep Yadav and Jaspreet Bumrah took the match away from Australia.
Rohit Sharma single-handedly thrashed Australia
- IND vs AUS: India's start was not very good, Virat Kohli was out in 5 balls without scoring any run.
Josh Helwood got him caught out while trying to play a big shot on a short ball.
- But then Rohit Sharma attacked Australia like a hungry lion. Mitchell Marsh brought left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc into this match.
- In the third over, Rohit hit 6,6,4,WD,6 and scored a total of 29 runs in 1 over. From here the Kangaroos started getting nervous. Rishabh Pant shared a 93-run partnership with the captain for the second wicket.
- However, Pant did not appear to be in his natural form, he scored only 15 runs in 14 balls.

- After Rohit was out, Suryakumar Yadav took over the charge, his innings was not long but it was effective.
Surya scored 31 runs in 16 balls.
- After his dismissal in the 15th over, the run rate definitely slowed down. There were no boundaries in the 15th and 16th overs. Also, Shivam Dubey and Hardik Pandya got one life each in the form of dropped catches.
- In the 19th over, Hardik hit 2 back to back sixes against Stoinis. Then in the same over, we lost Shivam Dubey who contributed 28 runs in 22 balls.
- In the end, Ravindra Jadeja came and scored 9 runs in 5 balls. Hardik scored 27 runs in 17 balls.
Due to which India scored 205 runs.
IND vs AUS: Mitchell Marsh gets 2 lives
- Arshdeep Singh had dismissed David Warner (6) in the very first over. But then Mitchell Marsh got not 1 but 2 lives, Rishabh Pant and Arshdeep Singh dropped easy catches.
- At that time, Marsh was batting on just 1 run, after which Marsh and Head together scored 65 runs in the powerplay itself.
- Australia were cruising towards the target but then Kuldeep Yadav came in and had Mitchell Marsh (37 off 28 balls) caught out in the last ball of the 9th over.
- Axar Patel took a stunning catch at the boundary.
Yadav's magic didn't stop there as he then dismissed the dangerous Glenn Maxwell (19).
IND vs AUS: Travis Head's innings went in vain
- Maxwell was out in the 14th over, after which only 10 runs were scored in the next 14 balls. From here the pressure on Australia kept increasing. The required run rate of 10 runs per over reached 14.
- Then in the 17th over, Jasprit Bumrah caught the biggest fish, Travis Head, who was leading the one-sided charge by scoring 76 runs in 43 balls.
- Australia needed 53 runs in 18 balls, on this occasion Arshdeep Singh dismissed Matthew Wade. This proved to be the last nail in the coffin of the Kangaroos.
- The most effective bowler from India was Kuldeep Yadav, who took 2 important wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. Apart from him, Arshdeep took 3 wickets but they came at the end of the innings. Jasprit Bumrah took 1 wicket for 29 runs in 4 overs.
IND vs AUS: Australia almost out of T20 World Cup
- With this defeat, Australia is almost out of the T20 World Cup 2024. Now their eyes are on the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh match to be held tomorrow morning.
- If the Afghan team wins, it will be the second team to qualify from Group-1 along with India.
