India put up a show during the match against Australia as they set up a huge target of 206 on June 24 at St Lucia. Rohit Sharma played a captain innings scoring 92 runs giving a solid base for the Indian batting lineup to score 205 runs in their innings.
Australia is scheduled to play in the 51st match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against India on June 25 at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. India secured two out of two wins in the Super 8s and remains unbeaten in the ongoing 2024 edition.
A third win for India will substantially threaten Australia’s semi-final chances after an unexpected defeat against Afghanistan at St Vincent. If they lose the match against India they have to track the match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh for their chances in Semi finals.
Australia plays a must-win match against India after winning one out of two matches in the Super 8 stages. They won the match against Bangladesh but suffered a defeat against Afghanistan on Saturday clash.
Coming to the match, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened the innings while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack. In the fourth ball of the second over by Josh Hazlewood, Virat Kohli was dismissed for a five-ball duck.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma smashed the fastest fifty of the tournament in 19 deliveries. With his dismissal of Kohli Rishabh Pant came to bat and forged hands with Rohit Sharma to put up 60 runs in the powerplay.
Rishabh Pant scored 15 runs before being dismissed by Marcus Stoinis in the last ball of the eighth over. By the end of 10 overs, India scored 114 runs losing two wickets.
Rohit Sharma scored 92 runs in 40 deliveries including 7 fours and 8 sixes. In the 12th over of the match, Mitchell Starc dismissed Rohit Sharma on a yorker length delivery from round the wicket.
Mitchell Starc Strikes again picking the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav for 31 runs in the 15th over of the match. With Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya continuing to bat, India scored 181 runs by the end of the 18th over. Stoinis picked his second wicket by dismissing Shivam Dube for 28 runs. With an impressive six from Jadeja, India crossed the 200 mark and by the end of 20 overs, India scored 205 runs for 5 wickets.
