Mayank Yadav made his debut for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. In this match, he took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs, but more than that, his speed and bowling discipline caught everyone's attention. Cricket experts saw the X factor in him and since then there was a demand to bring him into the Indian team.

Many veteran players had even talked about taking Mayank as a reserve in the T20 World Cup. Currently, Team India is in the West Indies and after returning from there, they have to tour Zimbabwe. The team has been announced for this and Mayank Yadav has been kept out of it. After all, what was the matter due to which BCCI had to take this decision.

The injury problem

The biggest reason behind not selecting Mayank Yadav for the Zimbabwe tour is his injury problem. Mayank's speed is a double-edged sword for him. Because of this, he is everyone's favorite and because of this, he keeps having injury problems and has to stay out of the team.

He could not play IPL in 2023 due to injury.

In 2024 too, he was out after playing only 3 matches. When he returned in the fourth match, he could not bowl the full spell and was out of the entire tournament. However, BCCI selected him for training at NCA in Bengaluru after IPL. Mayank was recovering from injury there and BCCI probably wanted to show haste in bringing him into the team.

Lack of domestic experience

Mayank Yadav, who plays for Delhi in domestic cricket, is a complete newcomer.

He does not even have experience of playing domestic cricket. He has played only one match in first class and 17 matches in List A. BCCI would like to give him more experience in domestic cricket before international exposure, so that he does not lack confidence when he goes to the international level.

Long line of pacers

Mayank Yadav has his own problems, apart from this, BCCI already has an army of fast bowlers waiting to come into Team India. Many pacers have been a part of the team for the last few years. They are given a chance when the senior bowlers of the team are not there, so that the bench of the Indian team remains strong.

Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar are continuously associated with the Indian team and have also performed well.
