Afghanistan defeated Australia by 21 runs in Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The 2021 champions were chasing 149 to register their second win but were restricted to 127 runs in 19.2 overs. Gulbadin Naib was the star performer with four wickets. Naveen Ul Haq dismissed three batters.

Glenn Maxwell scored 59 runs for the Aussies. Earlier, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (60 runs off 49 balls) and Ibrahim Zadran (51 off 48 balls) added 118 runs for the opening wicket. However, there was no big contribution from the other batters as Afghanistan posted 148/6.

Pat Cummins (3 wickets) and Adam Zampa (2 wickets) were clinical with the ball.
