IND vs BAN: 5-0 This is not football, but the record of the Indian team against Bangladesh (IND vs BAN) in the T20 World Cup 2024. For the 5th time in the history of the T20 World Cup, both the teams were face to face. In which the team led by Rohit Sharma defeated the neighbors by a big margin of 50 runs. After losing the toss, Team India came to bat first and scored 196 runs, which included a fifty from Hardik Pandya. In response, Bangladesh could score only 146 runs and lost by a big margin of 50 runs.

Strong start by Rohit-Virat

  • The pair of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli finally showed the trailer of T20 World Cup 2024.
  • The two batsmen put on 39 runs for the first wicket in just 3.4 overs. India lost their first wicket as Rohit Sharma scored 23 runs off 11 balls.
  • Despite 10 runs coming in the fourth over, the captain lost his wicket while trying to play a big shot on the fourth ball. Virat Kohli continued to attack from the other end, he was also supported by Rishabh Pant.
  • Both of them added 32 runs together. Virat was out on the first ball of the 9th over after scoring 37 runs in 28 balls. He was clean bowled by Tanjim Hasan Sakib who deceived him with a slow ball.

India scored 196 runs due to the pair of Hardik-Dubey

  • After a solid start by Virat-Rohit, India lost 2 wickets in quick succession.
  • Surya Kumar Yadav hit a six off the first ball but while trying to cut the second ball, he was caught by the wicketkeeper.
  • Rishabh Pant (36) was batting well but was caught while playing reverse sweep. Team India lost 4 wickets at the score of 108 runs.
  • The responsibility of taking the innings forward fell on vice-captain Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey. Both the all-rounders did not disappoint.
  • Dubey, who scored 9 runs in the first 14 balls, was hit by Shakib Al Hasan in 1 over and ended his innings with 34 runs in 24 balls.
  • On the other hand, Hardik stayed till the last ball of the 20th over. He scored 50 runs in 27 balls and took India to 196.

IND vs BAN: Bangladesh trapped in Kuldeep's trap

  • Bangladesh got off to a tidy start in reply, with Liton Das looking dangerous as he smashed 14 off 10 balls.
  • But in the 5th over, Hardik Pandya got him caught out. The second opener was trapped LBW by Kuldeep Yadav.
  • He left Bangladesh behind in the match by scoring 29 runs in 31 balls. After this, it seemed as if wickets started falling in quick succession, Bangladesh lost 4 wickets in the next 54 runs.
  • Apart from captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto (42), no one else was able to stay at the crease for long. Tauhid Hridaya (4), Shakib Al Hasan (11), Mahmudullah (13) were dismissed cheaply.
  • Due to which India won by a big margin of 50 runs. The biggest credit for this goes to Kuldeep Yadav, he took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs.
  • Apart from him, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik got 2, 2, 1 wickets respectively.

IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma's wisdom

  • There were speculations that Rohit Sharma could make big changes in the playing eleven against Bangladesh (IND vs BAN).
  • Due to which Sanju Samson will be given a chance in place of Shivam Dubey.
  • But the Indian captain did not make any changes and expressed his trust in Shivam. He reaped the reward by scoring 34 runs in 24 balls.
