March 9, became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024. The defending champions handed Beth Mooney's Gujarat Giants a 7-wicket defeat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

After being asked to chase down a stiff target of 191, MI got home with a ball to spare. Yastika Bhatia took Mumbai off to a decent start with a knock of 49 before Ash Gardner accounted for her wicket. Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt failed to make an impact. With MI under pressure, Harmanpreet raised her game. She scored 15 runs off her first 16 balls before pressing the accelerator to bring up her fifty off 33 balls. Even after the required rate threatened to go out of MI's reach, Harmanpreet did not panic. Instead, she stayed not out on 95 runs off 48 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes. She also built an unbeaten 97-run stand with Amelia Kerr for the fourth wicket. 191 - Mumbai Indians recorded the highest successful run-chase in WPL history. Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) held the record after they chased down 189 last season against the Giants at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. 95* - Harmanpreet recorded the highest individual by a Mumbai Indians' batter in the WPL. She broke the record of Hayley Matthews, who scored 77 runs off 38 balls last season against RCB at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Harmanpreet's 95 was also the third-highest individual score in the WPL after Sophie Devine's 99 (against Giants in 2023) and Alyssa Healy's 96 not out (against RCB in 2023).
