Virat Kohli is battling form issues in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024, but for most of the former India players, he is not out of form and shouldn’t be blamed for his failures. Kohli has accumulated 29 runs in four matches so far. The veteran has posted 1, 4, 0 and 24 against Ireland, Pakistan, USA and Afghanistan. He is playing as an opener for the first time in the T20 World Cup and this move has back-fired.

Kohli accumulated 741 runs in the Indian Premier League 2024 and the legendary cricketer won the Orange Cap. The management decided to open the innings with him in the USA and the West Indies to accomodate more all-rounders in the playing XI.

Deep Dasgupta feels it has nothing to do with Virat’s form. He lauded the Indian batter for his past performances in the shortest format. “The ball is hitting in the middle of his bat. He is not out of form and just need one good innings to start run scoring spree. Virat has looked good,” he said on Star Sports.

Navjot Singh Sidhu reminded Kohli’s critics of his past record. “Virat is a legend of the game and he doesn’t need to prove himself. He is one of the greatest batters of all time. You can’t question his form as he hasn’t played a lot of balls. He is getting out early and this can happen to anyone,” he said.
