You can expect miracles in cricket. After all, this is a game of uncertainties. One such miracle was seen in the South Africa vs England match, which turned the whole match around. South Africa captain Aiden Markram did this miracle by catching a catch, which was his second miracle in 10 days.

Due to the miraculous catch taken by captain Markram, South Africa defeated England by 7 runs in the match played on 21 June in St. Lucia.

Now you must be thinking that in cricket a catch is a catch. Then why are we calling Markram's catch a miracle? Firstly, it changed the course of the match. Meaning, the match which was completely in England's control, South Africa had come back in control. If Markram had not taken this catch, South Africa would have lost and not won their second match in the Super-8.

Incident of the last over of ENG vs SA match

The incident of the miraculous catch taken by South African captain Markram happened in the last over of England's innings.

This was also the last over of the match, in which England needed to score 14 more runs while chasing the target of 164 runs. Enrique Norkhia was bowling and Harry Brook, who scored 53 runs in 36 balls, was on strike for England.

A 'miracle' happened on the very first ball of the 20th over!

Norkhia bowled the first ball of the 20th over. Brook hit a straight shot in the air. Markram was quite far from the direction of the ball. He was standing at mid-on, from where Markram came running and took that brilliant catch.

Markram did not take his eyes off the ball the whole time, due to which he got success.
This catch by Markram was unbelievable.

Navjot Singh Siddhu, who was commentating, remembered Kapil Dev's catch in 1983. Just like Kapil's catch had turned the match around, Markram's catch also turned the match around. With this catch, Brook's wicket fell and England's hopes of victory were dashed.

This is not the first time in the T20 World Cup 2024 that Aiden Markram has taken such a miraculous catch.

Earlier on June 11, in the match against Bangladesh, he also took a tremendous catch while running on the boundary line. The big thing is that South Africa had won against Bangladesh and now it has won against England as well.
