In a crucial encounter of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, England and South Africa face off in the 45th match at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

England’s captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bowl first against South Africa.

South Africa makes a key change in their lineup

South Africa, aiming to strengthen their bowling attack, made a strategic change to their playing XI.

Notably, spinner Tabraiz Shamsi was omitted from the lineup for today’s match. This decision raised eyebrows among fans and analysts alike.

Reason behind Tabraiz Shamsi’s exclusion

The exclusion of Shamsi was primarily due to the team’s tactical considerations. With the pitch conditions and the need to balance the side in mind, South Africa opted for an all-pace attack by including Ottneil Baartman in place of Shamsi.

This move was aimed at exploiting the fast-bowling strength of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje alongside Beardman.

The revised lineup for South Africa now features Baartman as the additional pace option alongside Rabada and Nortje. This adjustment aims to provide the Proteas with a potent bowling arsenal against the English batting lineup.

Playing XI of both sides

South Africa: Quinton de Kock (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram(c), David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ottneil Baartman

England: Philip Salt, Jos Buttler(w/c), Harry Brook, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley
