The Copa America football series is famous after the World Cup and Euro Cup football series.

Teams from the South American continent will participate and compete to win the title of champion. This series has been going on since 1916. The 48th Copa America football series is starting today in the United States. This football festival will run till July 14. A total of 32 matches are played in 14 stadiums.

A total of 16 teams are participating including 10 teams from the South American continent Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and 6 teams from the American continent USA, Mexico, Jamaica, Panama, Canada and Costa Rica.

These are divided into 4 sections.

Defending champions Argentina, Canada, Chile and Peru are in Group A. Mexico, Jamaica, Venezuela and Ecuador are in Group B, USA, Bolivia, Uruguay and Panama are in Group C and Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia and Paraguay are in Group D. In the league round, each team will play the other teams in its division once. The top two teams on the basis of points will advance to the quarter-finals. The quarter-finals will be played from July 4 to 6. The semi-finals will be played on July 9 and 10. The final match to decide the champion title will be held on July 14 in Miami.

Today, on the opening day at 5.30 am, defending champions Argentina led by Lionel Messi will face debutant Canada in the first match. The match will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Argentina will try to win the title for the 16th time.

The US is hosting the Copa America football series for the second time. This time 6 teams from North America are playing in the field. 9-time champion Brazil will be without captain Neymar this time. He did not participate in the series due to injury. However, the team has promising star players including Vinicius Junior and Alisson Becker.
