Gautam Gambhir was recently interviewed for the post of Team India’s head coach. According to several reports, he was the only candidate who had applied for the job. However, some of the media houses claimed that WV Raman also went through interviews for the top post in the men’s team.
Gambhir is the front runner, considering his success with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2024. The Knight Riders won their third title in the 17th season with Gambhir playing a key role.
He returned to Kolkata-based franchise before the season. Gautam left Lucknow Super Giants after two years to work with Shreyas Iyer’s team.
Despite being favourite to replace Rahul Dravid after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Gambhir refused to reveal anything.
“I don’t see that far ahead, difficult to answer right now,” Gautam Gambhir told the Press Trust of India.
He will not travel with the Men in Blue for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Gambhir’s first series will be against Sri Lanka.
