In the T20 World Cup 2024, two Super-8 teams, England and South Africa, competed. In this match being played in St. Lucia, England made a big mistake, due to which Quinton de Kock, who was looking dangerous, was almost out. The South African team was progressing rapidly by scoring 76 runs without losing a wicket. De Kock was causing trouble for England. Then in the 9th over, he got caught by Mark Wood in an attempt to hit a big hit on Adil Rashid's ball. Wood lost this easy opportunity due to his carelessness. He caught the catch but the umpire did not give it out as it touched the ground. There was a debate for a while on this catch.
South Africa had a very strong start against England. England did not see any chance of getting a wicket in the near future. Meanwhile, Adil Rashid trapped De Kock, who was playing on 58 runs, in his spin. He hit a long shot on the leg side and it fell into the hands of Mark Wood. He also took the catch, but while completing it, the ball touched the ground between his fingers.
A big moment…
Rashid thinks he has the vital wicket of Quinton de Kock, caught at deep backward square leg by Mark Wood on 5⃣8⃣.
The third umpire has had a look though and given it NOT OUT. He thinks it's bursting through the hands of Wood to touch the ground.

The England team also started celebrating this important wicket. Meanwhile, De Kock looked dissatisfied and he talked to the umpire. After this, the umpire referred it to the third umpire. The third umpire found that the catch was not clean. The ball was touching the ground between Wood's two fingers, after which the umpire gave not out. England's team was disappointed due to a carelessness.
