Afghanistan team will tour India, but will not play a single match with Team India, this will happen after 4 years

The Afghanistan team has performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup 2024. Under the captaincy of Rashid Khan, the team qualified for the Super-8 by defeating New Zealand during the group stage. However, Team India defeated them in the first match of the Super-8. After this tournament, Afghanistan has to tour India. During this, T20 and ODI series will be played, but it will not be between India but between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Actually, the Afghanistan team wants to host its home series against Bangladesh in India, for which the BCCI has given permission.

Home series in India after 4 years

The Afghanistan Cricket Board signed an MoU with the BCCI in 2015 to make Greater Noida its home ground. Since then, the Afghanistan team has been playing its home series in India, but it stopped after the Taliban regime came. It last hosted four years ago in 2020 at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida.

According to the Times of India report, Afghanistan once again sought permission to host ODI and T20 International matches against Bangladesh in July-August. BCCI has now given the green signal for this. According to the report, BCCI has allotted two venues to Afghanistan in the form of Greater Noida and Kanpur.

What is the schedule?

This series will be played between 25 July and 6 August, for which the Bangladesh team will reach Delhi on 22 July. Currently, only the dates have been mentioned in the report for the Bangladesh series. The 3-match ODI series will start on 25 July. Its second match is to be held on 27 July and the third match on 30 July. The Afghanistan team will also play a 3-match T20 series, the first match of which will be played on 2 August. After this, the second match will be played on 4 matches and the last match will be on 6 August.
