While talking to Times of India, he said, Gautam Gambhir was a part of the Lucknow Super Giants team and the team performed very well under his coaching. After this, he became the mentor of KKR and the team became the champion. Gambhir has a very good understanding of cricket.

I have played a lot of cricket with him and we have been together a lot. We used to eat together and talk a lot. We are still good friends and are in touch. He should definitely be the coach of the Indian team and Ashish Nehra or Zaheer Khan can be appointed as the bowling coach.
