A report in the Pakistani media has claimed that not only the players' wives or children, but some players' entire families were with them in the team hotel during the tournament. 60 rooms booked in team hotel

The report claims that the number of Pakistani players and support staff during the World Cup was 34, while about 28 members of their families were also with them.

Apart from Babar, the families of some other players including Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Aamir and Fakhar Zaman were staying in the team hotel. During this time, a total of 60 rooms were booked in the hotel where the team stayed so that the family members could also be accommodated. A former Pakistani cricketer said that having so many family members around could be a distraction for the players. He said that this could be okay in a bilateral series but in a tournament like the World Cup, the players needed to focus only on their game and being around their family was bound to distract them and hence the PCB should not have allowed this.
