Ever since the Pakistan cricket team had to face a comeback from the first round after a crushing defeat in the T20 World Cup 2024, there has been an uproar. Pakistani fans are very angry, former cricketers are also venting their anger. Not only this, but the Pakistani media is also attacking the team and bringing out many such things, which are raising questions on the team's preparations and their attitude.
One such news has come in the Pakistani media, in which it has come to light that more than the players, their family members had reached for the World Cup.In the very first round of the World Cup, Pakistan had to face defeat against America and India. Due to this, the team could not reach the next round and was eliminated. Since then, while there is constant criticism of the performance of many players, Babar Azam's captaincy is also on target.
There are also allegations of disunity and lack of unity in the team. Now there is also an allegation of distraction due to the presence of the players' families.A report in the Pakistani media has claimed that not only the players' wives or children, but some players' entire families were with them in the team hotel during the tournament. According to the report, captain Babar Azam's parents and brother were also with him during the World Cup. Some other players' brothers or parents were also with them during the World Cup.
The report claims that the number of Pakistani players and support staff during the World Cup was 34, while about 28 members of their families were also with them.
Apart from Babar, the families of some other players including Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Aamir and Fakhar Zaman were staying in the team hotel. During this time, a total of 60 rooms were booked in the hotel where the team stayed so that the family members could also be accommodated. However, it is important to know that the players themselves bore the expenses of the family members.Atiq-uz-Zaman “17 officials, 60 hotel rooms, families – were they there to play cricket or was it a holiday” #T20WorldCup #cricket pic.twitter.com/JCUgjoGrMw

A former Pakistani cricketer said that having so many family members around could be a distraction for the players. He said that this could be okay in a bilateral series but in a tournament like the World Cup, the players needed to focus only on their game and being around their family was bound to distract them and hence the PCB should not have allowed this.
