Lucknow: Indian team captain Rohit Sharma is seen struggling continuously with the bat in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit is constantly getting out against left-arm fast bowlers in this World Cup, which is becoming one of his weak sides. Sharma is facing all kinds of criticism after getting out against left-arm pacers repeatedly like this. However, in the meantime, the Indian captain has got the support of former great Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar. Let us tell you that Rohit was out many times against left-arm pacers not only in this World Cup but also during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Sharma could not score big even during the match played against Afghanistan in the Super-8 and was sent back to the pavilion by the opposition team's star pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi on a personal score of 8 runs. Farooqi is also a left-arm bowler and after getting out against him, Rohit has lost his wicket against such a bowler for the third time in this World Cup. Earlier, he was dismissed by Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and United States' Saurabh Netravalkar. However, during a conversation on Star Sports, Gavaskar has defended Rohit.

He said, “Rohit is an experienced batsman and he knows very well what he has to do. You cannot ask Rohit to change his game because of the angle of the bowlers. Yes, sometimes it can definitely be said that because of that angle you should not hit towards the on side and he probably needs to play inside out on extra cover. You can try any of these two things and Sharma should probably do the same.”

Gavaskar further said that “Rohit is a player who has a lot of experience of playing limited overs cricket and he does not need to change it. Every batsman gets out in some way or the other. If you get out behind the wicket, then you cannot say that your game against off stump is weak. If you have scored 10 to 15 thousand runs and have been out outside the off stump 40 times, then it does not mean that this is your weakness.”
