Delhi: Star all-rounder Axar Patel has claimed that Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey does not interfere much in the case of veteran pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Let us tell you that the fast bowler has continued his excellent form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Bumrah once again played his role in the Super-8 match against Afghanistan. The fast bowler took 3 wickets for just 7 runs in his 4 overs and destroyed the Afghan batting.
India won the match by 47 runs and Bumrah's performance was praised by captain Rohit Sharma and others. Speaking at the press conference, Akshar said that Bumrah knows what to do and what not to do. The spinner said that Mhambrey also does not interfere much with the pacer. Akshar said that the bowling coach just tells Bumrah to go ahead with his plans.
30-year-old Axar Patel said, “I don't think anyone talks much about Bumrah's bowling. He knows what to do and what not to do, so when it is going so well, I understand that the bowling coach must not be giving much input in his case. He just says that you are doing well, what you are thinking is also going well, so as far as I have seen, the bowling coach does not interfere much. While planning, he says that whatever your mindset is, it is clear, so just implement your plans.”
Bumrah is a world class bowler – Patel
He further said, “Look, obviously Jasprit Bumrah is a world class bowler and you know that with the kind of bowlers we have, we can get out of difficult situations, so at that time you have to think about what you have, what are your strengths, what are your weaknesses, so don't think too much about what the other bowler did. I was just thinking what would work for me on this wicket, like after 1-2 balls, I realized that if I change the speed and length, it is better on this wicket. That's what I was doing.”
It is worth noting that India's next match will be against Bangladesh on June 22, which is also their second match in the Super-8 stage.
