Indian cricket team gears up for high stakes and competitive groups in the Super 8s in the West Indies conditions. Contrary to many expectations, India is unlikely to change their opening options despite Virat Kohli scoring only five runs in the group stages.

Rohit Sharma hasn’t scored many after hitting a half-century in the first game against Ireland. Unless there isn’t a collapse, there shouldn’t be any change in the batting order as well with Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

On the other hand, Afghanistan has been qualified to Super 8s after securing three victories out of four games in Group stages. They stand second in the Group C points table by the end of the Group stages.

While speaking in the pre-match conference, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid said, “They have a pretty good bowling attack. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq swing the ball pretty well. We need to counter their bowling attack. Hopefully, we will get a par-for score or chase down whatever target they set.”

India are a very good side and one of the favorites. Being a favorite is obviously a pressure for India. We are not underdogs, are fully prepared and ready for the battle,” said Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott.
