Pakistan's T20 World Cup exit has ignited a massive war of words on social media. Babar Azam and his team has received massive flak from former players, experts for their underwhelming performance.
Pakistan lost to USA and India en route to their elimination, and after that, some of the players have decided to stay back in various places instead of returning to the country. Babar Azam, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir and Azam Khan are the six players who haven't returned to Pakistan and are spending holidays in London and other places. Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf also got involved in a heated brawl with one of the fans.
Over the past couple of days, fans have shared the Haris Rauf incident and have strongly condemned the behaviour of fans with players. Amid this, former Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has made a scathing attack on the Pakistan players. He has been in news for continuous attacks on Babar Azam and his team during the T20 World Cup, and now Shehzad has called for the players to come back to Pakistan from their vacation and apologize to the fans. "While we fully condemn what happened to Haris Rauf, it is also important that the posts put up by the players in support of Haris should be taken away from the fans due to his poor performance in the World Cup," Ahmed Shehzad wrote on X. "It should have been as an apology.
It would be good if these players would apologize to the nation, if these players would be ashamed and these players would return to Pakistan instead of spending holidays in America, England or Dubai. These posts by the players should not change the narrative and the fans should get answers for the poor performances of the players.
Accountability is very important now, the same group of players have not won anything for our country in the last five years and have kept prioritizing personal milestones rather than the collective success of Pakistan," he added.
