Rahul Dravid: Indian cricket team's head coach Rahul Dravid on Wednesday hinted at which spinner Kuldeep Yadav or Yuzvendra Chahal might have good luck in the T20 World Cup Super 8 match against Afghanistan today. According to Dravid, the conditions there seem to be favorable for slow bowlers.
At the Nassau County Stadium in New York, India relied on its fast bowlers as the 'drop-in' pitches there had uneven bounce, which helped the fast bowlers. In such a situation, whose luck can shine between Kuldeep and Chahal, know what the coach has to say about this?
Speaking to the media on the eve of the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match, Rahul Dravid said,
'It is difficult to leave anyone out. The conditions were a little different for the fast bowlers in New York. We might need to do something different here in Barbados. UG or Kuldeep can be used here. We are lucky that we have all-rounders. We had eight batsmen, but we also had seven bowling options.'
In his statement, coach Dravid has not clarified whose luck will shine against Afghanistan, but in a subtle way he has definitely hinted that one of them can get a chance in today's match.
Further in the conversation, Rahul Dravid said that,
'Every situation is different. It cannot be set in stone. I believe in flexibility. In the match against Pakistan, we sent Akshar Patel up. A lot of thought was given to sending Rishabh Pant at number three. I don't think we will have this flexibility in Tests. In T20, you get to see more flexibility in batting.'
